Disclaimer

Please read this page before you work with eBay Co-Ventures. It explains the risks of running an online store in plain English. By using our website or services, you accept this disclaimer.

Earnings and results are not guaranteed

Any numbers on this website, including the profit calculator, worked examples, blog posts and case studies, are for illustration only.

  • Case studies are real but individual. The store dashboards we show are real results from stores we have managed. They are not typical or average results, and they are not a promise of what your store will earn. Many stores earn less, some earn nothing, and some lose money.
  • The calculator is an estimate. It uses assumptions (such as inventory costs and margins) that may not match your store.
  • Past results do not predict future results. Prices, competition, fees and marketplace rules change all the time.

You should only commit money you can afford to have tied up or lose.

Marketplace rules and account risk

Your store runs on your own eBay seller account and your own buyer and payment accounts. Every marketplace sets its own rules, and those rules can change at any time.

  • eBay's sourcing rules. eBay's drop shipping policy allows sellers to fulfill orders from wholesale suppliers. It does not allow listing an item and then buying it from another retailer or marketplace to ship directly to the buyer. Before you start, read the current policy yourself and decide whether you are comfortable with how your store will be stocked.
  • Retailer and card terms. Retailers (such as Amazon) and card issuers have their own terms of use, including rules about buying for resale and how rewards are earned.
  • Accounts can be limited. eBay, Amazon, PayPal, banks or card issuers may hold funds, limit selling or buying, suspend or close an account at their own discretion.

eBay Co-Ventures is not responsible for any account being banned, suspended, held, limited or restricted, or for funds being held. Account health is not a perfect science. If a hold or suspension happens, we will work with you to look for a solution where possible, but we cannot promise an outcome.

Cashback

Cashback, such as the 5% back available with an Amazon Prime Visa, is paid by the card issuer under its own terms. Eligibility, rates and rules are set by the issuer and Amazon and can change. Check the current card terms before you apply. We do not issue cards and do not control rewards.

Not financial, legal or tax advice

Our website, blog and calls are general information about running an online store. They are not financial, investment, legal or tax advice. As the store owner, you are responsible for your own taxes and for following the laws that apply to you. Please speak to a qualified accountant or lawyer about your situation.

No affiliation

eBay Co-Ventures is an independent company. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by eBay Inc., Amazon.com, Inc., Chase, Visa or any other company mentioned on this site. All product names, logos and brands are the property of their owners and are used only to describe how our service works.

Blog content

Our blog is written to be helpful and is checked against official sources when it is published. Fees, policies and limits change, so always confirm details on the official site (for example, eBay Help) before relying on them.
